Abstract

In the era of rapid technological progress, it is necessary to use several kinds of facilities and infrastructure for the era of free competition. One of the prospects for future development is the construction of factories that have competitiveness with foreign products. One of them is by establishing a butyl acrylate factory. with a capacity of 60,000 tons per year planned to operate for 330 days per year.The process of making butyl acrylate uses a liquid phase esterification process with a mole ratio of acrylic acid and butanol = 1: 1.043. In this process the reaction is exothermic, irreversible and is carried out in a Continuous Stirred Tank Reactor (CSTR) reactor, the liquid-liquid phase and operating conditions are maintained isothermal (85 ° C) and 1 atm pressure. This plant is a low-risk factory because it takes place in atmospheric conditions. The need for acrylic acid for this plant is 4,419.69 kg / hour and the need for butanol is 4,419.45 kg / hour and the amberlyst-15 catalyst is 86.7108 kg. The product is 7210 kg / hour butyl acrylate. Utilities supporting the process include water supply of 466,669.94 kg / hour obtained from river water, provision of saturated steam of 33,669.79 kg / hour obtained from boilers with fuel oil of 1,895 m3 / hour. Needs compressed air 50 m3 / hour. Electricity is obtained from PLN and a generator set of 425 kW in reserve, as much as 1.34 m3 of fuel per hour. This factory was established in the Cilegon industrial area, Banten with a land area of 50,000 m2 and a number of employees of 300 people. This butyl acrylate factory uses fixed capital investment (FCI) of Rp. 770,519,570,113 and working capital of Rp. 298,543,530,120. From the economic analysis of this factory, it shows a profit before tax of Rp 217,050,958,254 per year after tax deduction of 50% and the profit reaches Rp 108,525,479,126.78 per year. Percent Return On Investment (ROI) before tax of 28.17% and after tax of 14.08%. Pay Out Time (POT) before tax for 2.62 years after tax for 4.15 years. Break Even Point (BEP) by 45.85% and Shut Down Point (SDP) by 28.71%. Disccounted Cash Flow (DFC) accounts for 28.25%. From the feasibility analysis data above it can be concluded that this plant is profitable and feasible to be established.
