Abstract

The land use conversions analysis in Jaten District is important to be studied due to the highest number of population and population increase in Karanganyar Regency, all of its villages are classified as self-sufficient and urban. Jaten District is strategic, flanked by 2 city centers namely Karanganyar Regency and Surakarta City, through the provincial and regency main routes, center of local activities and the city’s strategic area, also the allocation of large industries. The purpose of this research are to analyze about spatial distribution of land use conversions and to find out the dominant factors that influence the land use conversions. The research used qualitative descriptive and quantitative descriptive methods of secondary data. Qualitative data analysis is used on maps that has been overlayed, and quantitative data analysis is used on result of multiple linear regression of land use conversions data, population growth, population density, and the addition of socioeconomic facilities, also directly checks on to research place for data validation. The results from this research are that the highest land use conversions is in Ngringo Village, the lowest is in Suruhkalang Village. The conversions are not spread evenly, due to only at the center of activities and along the provincial main and regency main routes. Dominated by the conversions of undeveloped land into industrial land is about 215.43 ha. The dominant factors that influencing land use conversions is population growth.
