Abstract

One type of kWh meter still widely used by PLN is the analog kWh meter. The weakness of this type of kWh meter is in the payment system, because it allows users or consumers of postpaid kWh to ignore electricity bills. Therefore, PLN creates digital kWh meters using a prepaid payment system, so consumers are required to use special vouchers for electricity usage from PLN. The purpose of this study was to determine the comparison of prepaid and postpaid electricity consumption in Singopuran, Kartasura Village, Sukoharjo Regency. The research method is done by calculating the use of prepaid kWh meters and postpaid kWh meters. Based on the results of the study, the value of the rupiah kWh meter at the time of the study was seen from administrative costs with 450 VA postpaid power of Rp 73,214 then the prepaid kWh meter to Rp 68,714 was only 6.1% different while with 900 VA postpaid power Rp 161,175 with prepaid kWh meter being Rp. 156,675 is only 2.7% different. These results prove that the use of kWh with 450 VA postpaid and prepaid power is more affordable compared to 900 VA postpaid and prepaid kWh.
