Abstract

The development of the population of Starling Suren in Jimbung Village, Kalikotes District, Klaten Regency shows positive progress. This can be seen from the increasing number of Suren Starling breeders from year to year. This study aims to analyze the socio-economic characteristics and trade networks of Suren Starling birds. The method used in this study is the survey method. Data collection methods in this study use primary data and secondary data. Data analysis method in this research is the analysis of frequency and geography tables. The results of the study are: the network pattern of Starling Suren birds from Jimbung Village, Kalikotes Subdistrict to the area divided into two groups, namely the trade network pattern from farmers to collectors before reaching buyers, and the trading network pattern from collectors to buyers. The pattern of the shortest trade network is from the cultivator with the collecting trader as an intermediary before reaching the buyer. Intermediary traders who will carry goods out of the village to other regions are usually collectors. Through collectors, the goods will reach other traders in other regions before reaching the buyers. The marketing of the Starling Suren bird is not only in Jimbung Village, Kalikotes Subdistrict, but is also marketed in almost all of Java and even outside of Java. Collector traders located in Jimbung Village, Kalikotes Subdistrict sell back the Jalak Suren bird to small traders. In addition to small traders, Suren starlings are also sold to Suren starlings, by starling Suren traders sold directly to buyers. The trade network that occurred in Jimbung Village, Kalikotes Sub-District was not only from the Jimbung Village area, Kalikotes Sub-district, but also came from other regions.
