Abstract
Drink cans are materials that cannot be decomposed in the soil and have aluminium content at 92,5 to 97,5%. It can be used for producing potassium alum which can add the economic value of canned waste. This research is intended to study the reaction kinetics of alum made from canned aluminum waste. The variables studied in this study are time and temperature. This research was conducted with add H2SO4 7M, 20% KOH concentration, with a reaction time 10 minutes, 20 minutes, 30 minutes, 45 minutes, 60 minutes and operating temperatures 700C, 800C, 900C. The deposits formed were analyzed by the AAS (Atomic Absorption Spektrophotometry) method to determine the amount of recovery of aluminum in alum.The results obtained in this study are the recovery of Al in the resulting product will increase with the length of reaction time and high operating temperature, but at a temperature of 900C is not feasible in making alum because there will be product destruction, the order of alum making reaction shows a third order reaction with a value of k =81,0933 e-680,47/T and the equation of the reaction rate –rA = 81,0933 e-680,47/T[Al]3.
