Abstract
Tofu industries produces liquid waste that contains pollutants. To reduce the contaminant, we need to treat the wastewater before discarding it into the environment. One method of wastewater treatment is electrocoagulation. It is a coagulation process triggered by direct electric current which is through of the electrochemical. The amount of electricity and the electrodes distance will be studied in this research accordance to the concentration of COD, BOD, TSS and the pH in the tofu liquid waste. This electrocoagulation process used the variations voltage of 10, 20, 30 volts, with settle time one hour and variation the range of electrodes to 2.5; 5.0 and 7.5 cm. The research result show that the greater voltage and the nearer distance between electrodes. Increase the reduction concentration of TSS, BOD,COD and the pH. The optimal conditions in this research occurred at voltage of 30 volt and a electrodes distance of 2.5 cm. Result of the concentration COD of 247.61 mg/L with efficiency values is 69.05%, BOD concentration of 309.00 mg/L with efficiency values is 31.10%, TSS concentration of 560 mg/L with efficiency values is 56.25% and the pH values up to be 6.7.
