Abstract

The development of students language skills is one of the programs implemented by the Muhammadiyah Modern Boarding School Imam Syuhodo (PPMMIS). The program is an attempt by PPMMIS to improve students skills in foreign languages (Arabic and English) in writing and speaking. Activities are carried out in the guidence of the santri language with the guidence of the cleric supervising the language section and administrators of the language division IPM. The aplication of rules and procedures is carried so that activities optimaly and students can follow the activities with discipline. The development of students language skills to effort have the ability special language. The researcher was interested in conducting this research aboaut the development of students language in PPMMIS in 2019/2020. The purpose of this research is to describe the process of activities and explain the supporting and inhibitting factors for the development of students language skills in the PPMMIS. The type of research used in this study is field research. There are three data collection methods used observation, interview and documentation. Data analysis method used is inductive analysis are data reduction, data presentation and conclusing. The conclusion of this research are the activity of developing students language skills in PPMMIS in accordance with the method of learning language is the direct method, writing and speaking. The supporting factors of the activity are figures from the directors and leaders of islamic boarding school, the quality of qualified language coaches, boarding school environment that supports and enthusiasm in every student in carrying coaching activities. The inhibiting vactor of the activites are the consistency of IPM management in the language division in carrying out the dask, the are some elements or groups of students who are secretly or deliberately violating the rules of the language section
