Abstract
Unemployment arises because of the high rate of population growth that is not matched by employment growth. With unemployment will cause many other associated problems such as social jealousy, crime, declining community welfare and others that also need to be considered by the government. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of inflation, wages, investment and human development index on unemployment in Indonesia in 2017. The data used in this study are data obtained from BPS on unemployment, inflation, wages, investment and the human development index in Indonesia in 2017 The analytical method used is the associative method and the technique of data regression analysis with the Ordinary Least Square method. Based on data processing, it was found that there are two variables that statistically have a significant effect on unemployment, namely wages have a positive effect and investment variables have a positive effect on unemployment. While the variables that have no significant effect on unemployment are inflation and the human development index variable and as a whole or simultaneously. The coefficient of determination (R2) obtained a result of 0.553071 which means 55.3071%, the variation of the unemployment variable can be explained by the variables of inflation, investment, wages and human development index, while the remaining 44.6929% is explained by the independent variables not included in model.
