Abstract
This study discusses about the results of micro-photo testing and the hardness of the glaze layer. The glaze material was fabricated by using silica, lead oxide, and borax. It was added kaolin in the variations of 13, 16, and 20%. The glazed ceramics were then burning under 800⁰C and 1000⁰C temperature. There are two variations of holding time 30 and 45 minutes. The micro-photo and vickers hardness were conducted to investigate the glaze results after burning. According to the micro photo, the specimen with 20% kaolin and burning under 800⁰C was found many defects such as cracks and pinhole. The highest vickers hardness was resulted from the specimen with burned under 1000⁰C during 45 minutes and 20% kaolin addition.
