Abstract

This study aims to describe, 1) the implementation of social care and tolerance character in upper class students. 2) problems and solutions in implementation of social care and tolerance character in upper class students. This research is a descriptive qualitative research. Data collection in this research uses interviews, observation and documentation. The data validity technique uses triangulation techniques and source triangulation. Data analysis techniques using interactive model with process of reduction, presentation and drawing conclusions. The results showed that: (1) the implementation of social care and tolerance character in upper class students comprise, a) planning, was carried out by arranging projects, supporting programs (holiday’s project and book of monitoring), the formation of POP (Police of Piety), creation separation along with model of names classes from heroes of Islam, b) the application of social care character education was carried out by self-development in the form of routine activities, spontaneous activities, exemplary, conditionality, integration into lesson along with integration into school’s culture. The application is carried out with a tolerance character development program in the form of friendship with other students, does not interfere and gives the opportunity for friends who have different opinions, respect and friends with friends who others regardless of religion, culture and ethnicity. 2) problems in implementation of social care and tolerance character in upper class students is dont care attitude from parents about school’s programs and give all education to school then the solution from this is between teachers and parents must keep intensive communication.
