Abstract
Background: the appearance of teeth that are white and clean is a trend that can increase someone's confidence. Home bleaching is a chemical way of teeth whitening that can be done at home with 10% carbamide peroxide. Bleaching has side effect to mocosa irritation, toxic if swallowed, and affect to composite resin restoration. The alternative bleaching material that has been studied is forest honey (Apis dorsata) solution. The purpose: of this research are to determine whether there are differences in the compressive strength of nanohybrid composite resins in home bleaching using 10% carbamide peroxide and 20% forest honey solution (Apis dorsata) and to find home bleaching materials that have higher compressive strength. This research method: was purely laboratory experimental with posttest-only control group design using 32 nanohybrid composite resin samples in the form of tubes. All samples were immersed in aquadest for 24 hours at 37oC. Samples were divided into two groups, first group were applied with 0.1 ml of 10% carbamide peroxide and the other group were applied with 0.1 ml of 20% forest honey (Apis dorsata) solution for 4 hours every day in 14 days in an incubator at 37oC. Measurement of compressive strength using a Universal Testing Machine. The results: Independent T-Test with p<0,05 showed significance value 0,00. The conclusion: there were the differences in the compressive strength of nanohybrid composite resins in-home bleaching with 10% carbamide peroxide and 20% forest honey solution (Apis dorsata). Home bleaching in nanohybrid composite resins with forest honey solution (Apis dorsata) 20% has higher compressive strength then 10% carbamide peroxide.
