Abstract

Community-based tourism development can be a benefit for local communities, which will be a source and potential for community activities. So that tourism in Indonesia can be known and visited by tourists, the manager needs to do a communication strategy in tourism. The purpose of this study was to determine the communication process between members and explain the tourism communication strategy undertaken by JKH managers. This study use the concept of community-based tourism, tourism communication strategies and functional perspective theory in group decision making. This research using qualitative descriptive methods. Data collection techniques are interviews, observation and documentation. The results showed that JKH is a community-based tourist village at the Solo City that has successfully promoted tourism to the community. However, that things cannot be achieved without the establishment of a tourism communication strategy, carried out by JKH managers, by going through the four stages of group decision making processes. So, that process resulted a decision in the form of 5 tourism communication strategies used to promote JKH tourism. The strategy involves communication with 5 stakeholders namely Academics, Government, Industry, Community and Media.
