Abstract

This research aims to determine the developing of teaching materials and the effectiveness of enrichment books, the subject was characteristics of natural disasters as a knowledge base of disasters. The model of development used in this was Research and Development models on the Borg and Gall development models. The design of the description used Pretest-Posttest Group Control Design with 65 respondents. The students were grade XI IPS 1 and XI IPS 3 in SMA N Colomadu. The sampling technique used purposive sampling with 2 research classes which was 1 class as the control class and 1 class as the experiment class. The data collection techniques used in this study were observation, questionnaire and documentation. Data analysis techniques used T-tests. Product development results produced enrichment books and natural disaster characteristics as a basic knowledge of disasters with a size of 21cm x 29,7cm with product feasibility from the experts and media experts with an average of 4,8 which included in the Category "good". The results of the enrichment book effectiveness can be known through the improvement of the average results of Pretest posttest of natural disasters and characteristics material. The ekseriment class was an average value of Pretest 40, 91 and increased in posttest to 78,48, while control class was an average value of Pretest 45, 63 and a posttest average value of 70, 00 while. Thee test of effectiveness of media from the enrichment book was done with the calculation of N-gain score, the average increase in the grade value of the student experimentation was included in the category "Enough quality" with the value of N-gain score 63, 14%, while the average student's improvement on Control class included category "Less quality " with value N-Gain score 45,07%. From the T test (T-Test) showed that Pre-Test and posttests. The significants value was 0000 < 0,05 then H0 rejected and H1 accepted which means there was a significant difference of learning outcomes before and after the used of the enrichment book various of and characteristics natural disasters in Indonesia.
