Abstract
Carbon steel is steel that has a carbon content <0.3 percent, the carburizing process aims to add carbon and change the properties of the metal. In this study the material used to make charcoal comes from acacia wood. Acacia wood itself comes from incomplete combustion of acacia wood. This study uses the shakermill tool to carry out the High Energy Milling (HEBM) process. This tool is modified so that the steel balls collide with charcoal and use a speed of 900 rpm for 3 million cycles and the size of the 3/16 steel ball collision. From further testing of carbon steel in the microstructure test and the hardness of Vikers. Microstructure testing aims to determine the phase contained in carbon steel which is carburizing with 200 Mesh acacia charcoal and the results of shakermill. Vikers hardness testing conducted on carbon steel aims to determine the hardness value of carbon steel which is carburizing with 200 Mesh acacia charcoal and shakermill
