Abstract

ABSTRACT PROGRAM STUDY S1 FISIOTERAPI FACULTY OF HEALTH SCIENCE MUHAMMADIYAH SURAKARTA UNIVERSITY SKRIPSI, 2019 YUNITA AYU ASHARI / J 120 150 054 THE INFLUENCE NEUROSENSORIMOTOR REFLEX INTEGRATION (MNRI) AND HAND GRIP STRENGTHENER EXERCISE ON SLEEP QUALITY AND HANDGRIP STRENGTH IN AUTISM SPECTRUM DISORDERS CHILDREN (ASD) (Guided by: Agus Widodo, Sst., FTr., S.K.M., M.Fis) BACKGROUND: Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) is a disorder in which there is an increase in the volume of the brain during early development in children and there is a decrease in adolescence and adulthood. These children have problems with social communication, somatosensory, typical development patterns, mood and concentration. This can lead to impaired quality of sleep in children ASD. ASD sleep problems in children is associated with sensory problems and social skills decreases. Neurosensorimotor Reflex Integration (MNRI ™) has been developed to facilitate the neurological function of children. If the ASD child can not be handled properly it will undergo physical deterioration that can cause some of the symptoms associated such as muscle weakness or hypotonia, one weakness in the upper extremities such as the ability to force his hand. Muscle weakness in grip or handgrip strength in the child's motor will affect the functional activity of the hand. Because a good motor skills will affect the good life skills. Exercise can be done for the problem in handgrip strength, can use Hand Grip Strengthener Exercise. OBJECTIVE: The aims of this study to determine influence MNRI ™ and Hand Grip Strengthener Exercise for the quality of sleep and Handgrip Strength in ASD children. METHOD: Quasi Experiment with the study design pre and post test with control group is the method used in this study by using 16 respondents aged 6-10 years who were taken using purposive sampling technique. RESULTS: There are significant MNRI ™ study group on the quality of sleep in children ASD with significant value 0,001 <0,050. CONCLUSION: MNRI ™ treatment groups affect the quality of sleep in children ASD.
