Abstract
Abstracts Advanced age is a process of human development characterized by changes in physical, emotional, and sexual life. The purpose of this study is to find out happiness that affects elderly men who live alone in Surakarta. The method used in this study is descriptive qualitative with a case study approach. The data obtained from this study are the results of semi-structured interviews with the selection of informants using purposive sampling technique. The criteria for the subject used in this study were the elderly widower male young old category, living alone, and residing in Surakarta. The results of this study show that there are several problems that arise in elderly men who live alone, namely feelings of sadness and loneliness due to abandoned wife; household affairs become neglected; can't forget the wife who has passed away; the desire to remarry the widower who separated from his wife due to divorce. While the meaning of happiness for elderly men who live alone include active activities both at home and outside the home; thank and get closer to Allah SWT; and the desire to remarry.
