Abstract

The teacher is one important element in the field of education that must play an active role in guiding and educating students especially entering thematic learning material in the 2013 Curriculum. Thematic learning requires students to play an active role in the learning process, for example, active in asking questions. But sometimes there are students who are less active. Then the role of the teacher in overcoming this is very necessary. This study aims to describe the types of learning difficulties, the role of the teacher and the efforts of the teacher in overcoming student learning difficulties in thematic learning and to describe the efforts of the teacher in overcoming student learning difficulties in class IV thematic learning. This type of research is descriptive qualitative. The informants are the school principal and class IV teacher. Interview, observation and documentation data collection techniques. Data were analyzed through data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. Validity of data through source and method triangulation. The results showed that grade IV teachers already understood the types of learning difficulties, roles and efforts in overcoming learning difficulties in thematic learning. There are 10 teacher roles, namely the teacher's role as teacher, role model, advisor, authority holder, reformer, guide, realistic person, storyteller, camp breaker, and researcher. While the three efforts of teachers are efforts to guide, peer tutoring efforts, teachers do innovative and interesting learning, teachers motivate and teachers use learning media.
