Abstract

J 310 140 088 RELATIONSHIP OF NUTRITION KNOWLEDGE WITH CARBOHYDRATE ASSUMPTION OF DIABETES MELITUS PATIENTS IN PROLANIS IN GILINGAN PUSKESMAS SURAKARTA Introduction: Diabetes mellitus is a group of disorders characterized by an increase of blood glucose levels or hyperglycemia. In 2017, there were 53.33% of patients had diabetes mellitus at the Gilingan Public Health Center in Surakarta. Objective: This study aimed to determine the relationship between nutritional knowledge with carbohydrate intake on the diabetes mellitus patients in prolanis at Gilingan Surakarta Health Center. Research Methods: This study used a cross sectional design, as many as 43 patients with the age of early 45-55 years old and late 56-65 years old who have diabetes mellitus selected by simple random sampling. Knowledge data on diabetes mellitus nutrition was obtained from questionnaires, while carbohydrate intake data was obtained from recall for 3x24 hours. Data analysis used univariate data analysis to describe the distribution and frequency of nutritional knowledge variables with carbohydrate intake, while bivariate analysis was to determine the relationship between Kolmogorov Smirnov data and the relationship test used the Spearman Rank. Result: The results of this study indicated that nutritional knowledge about diabetes mellitus is good (69,8%), and classified as poor (18.6%). Carbohydrate intake of patients classified as good by (26.6%) and classified as less (65,1%), while more (9,3%). There was no relationship between nutritional knowledge with carbohydrate intake (p = 0.524). Conclusion: There is no relationship between nutritional knowledge and carbohydrate intake, and most people with diabetes mellitus are women.
