Abstract

Tourism at this era is one of the most developed sectors. Indonesia has been known as a country with thousand islands, biodiversity and the culture. The diversity has made Indonesia can be recognized around the world and attract foreign tourists to visit. One of the islands in Indonesia that attracts foreign tourists to visit is Lombok. Lombok Island has many promising tourism potential, thus making it the main destination for tourist to vacation on this Thousand Mosque Island. The uniqueness and beauty are no less interesting than Bali Island. Although Lombok had been hit by a terrible disaster, it cannot obey tourists to visiting Lombok especially Center Lombok Regency. It’s because the impact from that disaster for this area isn’t too horrible like the others. Tourism in Center Lombok Regency is no less interesting to explore, especially in West Praya Sub-District. However, tourism objects in this area are still not widely known to the public. This is because tourism objects in West Praya Sub-District are still underdeveloped, both by the government and the community. The purpose of this research are to analyzing the potential internal and external factors of tourism objects in West Praya Sub-District and choose a tourist area that can be the core of tourism development. The type of this research is qualitative descriptive. Source of research data consist of primary data and secondary data. Data collection techniques such as field observations which were assisted by using potential observation table and documentation. The results of this research are tourism objects with varying levels of potential internal and external factors, and also the tourism object who became the core of tourism development based on the combined potential classification score.
