Abstract

This study discusses the strategies applied by parents of workers in educating the character of children, along with the obstacles experienced. The purpose of this study is to explain the strategies adopted by workers' parents in educating children's characters and their constraints. With research subjects located in the village of Girimulyo, Ngargoyoso sub-district, Karanganyar district. This type of research is qualitative with descriptive phenomenology approach. The researcher describes what strategies are applied to working parents in educating the character of their children, as well as the obstacles experienced in them. The data source consists of two, namely primary and secondary. Primary data was obtained from interviews with three pairs of working parents. While secondary data obtained from the results of observation and documentation. Then the data is analyzed qualitatively through data reduction, data display, conclusion and verification. In this study, it was found that the strategies most commonly used by workers' parents included three scopes, namely parenting, process, and method. The most dominant parenting style is authoritative parenting. And parenting that is rarely applied is authoritarian parenting. The process that is passed in the activities of educating the most dominant character of children through the process of moral loving and moral doing. With good example methods and advice. The second order uses the method of supervision and habituation, and the method most rarely used is the method of forming a conducive atmosphere and threats.
