PARENT EDUCATION CONTRIBUTION AND STUDENT LEARNING ACHIEVEMENT TOWARD INTEREST TO CONTINUE STUDY TO HIGHER EDUCATION IN STUDENTS OF CLASS XI IS SMA MUHAMMADIYAH 1 SURAKARTA ACADEMIC YEAR 2018/2019. Thesis of the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education at Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta. The purpose of this study was to find out: 1) The effect of parental education on the interest in continuing to study in college. 2) Effect of student learning achievement on the interest in continuing to study in college. 3) Effect of parental education and student achievement on the interest in continuing to study in college. This research includes associative quantitative research. The population in this study were all students of class XI IS SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Surakarta 2018/2019 academic year as many as 121 students. Samples were taken as many as 89 students using the proportionate random sampling technique. The data needed is obtained through questionnaires and documentation. The previous questionnaire was tested and tested for validity and tested for reliability. The data analysis technique used is multiple linear regression analysis, t test, F test, R2 test and relative and effective contribution. The results of multiple linear regression analysis obtained the regression line equation: Y = 3.312 + 0.814X1 + 1.705X2. The results of the study concluded: 1) parental education had a positive and significant effect on the interest in continuing to study in college as evidenced by the value obtained by thitung > ttabel which is 2,244 > 1,987 and the probability value < 0,05 which is 0,027. 2) student learning achievement has a positive and significant effect on the interest in continuing to study in college as evidenced by the value obtained by thitung > ttable which is 4.539 > 1.987 and probability value < 0.05 which is 0.000. 3) parental education and student achievement has a positive and significant effect on the interest in continuing to study in college as evidenced by the value obtained by Fhitung > Ftabel, which is 12,883 > 3,10 and probability value < 0,05 which is 0,000. 4) the parent education variable makes an effective contribution of 4.58%, the student learning achievement variable makes an effective contribution of 18.52%, so the total effective contribution of the two variables is 23.1%, while the remaining 76.9% is influenced by other variables not examined by researchers.
