Abstract

Slamet Riyadi Road is a street with a strategic location in the city of Surakarta, which causes high activity in the area and it causes important to have pedestrian lane. High activity conditions have not been conducive by good use of pedestrian lane. This study aims to map the intrinsic level of convenience of pedestrian lane on Slamet Riyadi Road Surakarta using geographic information system and identifying the actual convenience level of pedestrian lane based on user perceptions in the field. The method of this research is survey and scoring parameter such as slope, vegetation cover, side barriers, drainage hole conditions, and pedestrian facilities. The random sampling field survey method used to validate landuse for vegetation cover parameters, side barriers, pedestrian facilities based on the interpretation result of Pleiades imagery and Google Street View. Classes of vegetation cover were collected by giving score according to vegetation cover class calculation (low, medium and high). Contour maps data for slope parameters are obtained from relevant agencies. Drainage hole conditions are obtained from field surveys. The final field survey is by questionnaire method with the society to find out the actual comfort level of the pedestrian lane on Slamet Riyadi Road Surakarta. The results of this research are the Pedestrian Lane Intrinsic Comfort Levels Map that represent the intrinsic comfort level of pedestrian lane on Slamet Riyadi Road in Surakarta consist of two classes namely comfortable, and quite comfortable. Comfortable class of pedestrian lanes divided into five segment roads with total length 3,4 km are distributed on west to east of study area. Quite comfortable class of pedestian lanes divided into one segment roads with total length 0,6 km are distributed on west of research area. The actual comfort level of the pedestrian lane on Slamet Riyadi Road Surakarta is divided into perception classes which are very convenient for vegetation cover parameters with very comfortable range (4.1) of pedestrian paths on Jalan Slamet Riyadi Surakarta. Comfortable perception classes for slope parameters (3.55), drainage (3.29) and facilities (3.35), and perception classes are quite comfortable for side obstacle parameters (2.79).
