Abstract

Dewa Mahardika Ardani "Analysis of welfare of White Pepper Farmers in East Belitung Regency" In the East Belitung Regency there are quite a lot of agricultural or plantation commodities. White pepper plant is one of the superior commodities in East Belitung regency because of its superior taste, which is the typical spicy taste. Pepper is the largest agricultural commodity in East Bandung and the majority of residents in East Belitung Regency are looking for white pepper farmers because white pepper has the potential to be developed But does the potential aspect that is seen also describe the condition of the farmer? The purpose of this study is as a parameter of the level of welfare of farmers, knowing how to survive facing the main problems of farming (one of which is crop failure and how to stabilize the selling price of pepper), and knowing the aspects of agriculture that are included in the Geography of population and social welfare parameters. The technique of this research is by interviewing and stocking questionnaires, as well as observations in the entrance to qualitative data and data collection on related service agencies to be analyzed which are included in quantitative data. The results of this study are that community welfare is inseparable from livelihoods, the parameters of progress in these livelihoods are not only seen externally but must also be studied internally, one of which is observation and analysis of someone working directly in the sector (ie farmers white pepper) because the progress of a livelihood is determined from several aspects, so whether commodities that have reached export to countries in Europe also affect the welfare of their farmers?
