Abstract

Homesickness is the feeling of longing for someone who lives far from family and environment to study and work in a new place. This research aims to find out the forms of homesickness felt by the santri. The subjects in this study were 8 students, with 2 men from Pondok Zumrotut Tholibin and 6 women from Pondok Assalam who felt homesickness. The informants of this study were selected using a purposive technique with the criteria of being new santri, experiencing homesickness to disrupt the lesson, and based on the teacher's recommendations and results when distributing questionnaires, this was evidenced by the informed consent. Data collection uses a semi-structured interview method. The data analysis technique used uses descriptive techniques to explain the results of the study. Based on the results of the analysis it can be concluded that the homesickness experienced by the santri was due to longing for the atmosphere at home, the santri felt lonely when they were in Pondok, thinking of old friends left by santri because they had to study, difficulty adapting to the Pondok environment at the beginning of entry and miss parents who are far from the lodge.
