Abstract

The use of correct language according to EYD rules is one very important factor in terms of writing. But in reality, there are still many errors in the use of language caused by the lack of attention to the nature of correct language use according to EYD. Misuse of spelling or sentences can be found in various print media, such as invitations, banners, official letters, magazines, and also advertisement leaflets or announcements that are often posted in various places in public spaces. The purpose of this study (1) Describe the structural study of language in the errors of language foreign and regional in public spaces (2) Describe the influence of the use of language in public spaces in the Grobogan area. This research is a qualitative research. The research data collection was obtained from direct image capture on site. Retrieval of data sources was taken starting in March 2019. Data collection techniques using observation and documentation techniques. The results showed (1) that people in the Grobogan area often found writing words and sentences that were not in accordance with the applicable Indonesian rules. In the results of research, the rise of the use of foreign languages in society is actually inseparable from the views of some people who consider foreign languages to have higher prestige compared to Indonesian (2) Errors that often occur in the form of errors in the form of punctuation, letters, abbreviations, acronyms, or foreign elements contained in public space media.
