Abstract

The definition of tourism is a journey made by humans both individuals and groups to visit certain destinations with recreational destinations, learn the uniqueness of tourist areas, self-development, be happy in a short time or temporarily. Augmented reality (AR) is an application that inserts 3D virtual objects into an environment that is as real or real-time. The more tourist destinations in Indonesia, especially in Klaten district, the people of Klaten Regency are not introducing their tourism potential out of the region. I made this AR application aims to help introduce tourism potential in Klaten district, with the application expected to increase tourist interest to visit tourism in Klaten district. The research method that I use is the waterfall method, and requires unity software to create AR, a webcam to read a marker map of Klaten Regency later and an android smartphone to run this AR application. This AR application is very easy to use and not too consuming the performance of a smartphone is also equipped with very interesting features such as information from a tour that will be visited as well as the location of tourist sites and entrance tickets and display 3 Dimensions of Klaten Regency map so that the page appearance is not boring This AR application has test results based on the slope of the marker position up to 90o, the farthest distance between the marker to the smartphone camera is 80cm and the object covered by another object is 16cm closing using A4 size print paper can run smoothly and use the waterfall method and questionnaire.
