Abstract

De Quervain Syndrome is a disease that arises due to inflammation of the tendon sheath which envelops the muscles m. extensor pollicis brevis and tendon m. abductor pollicis longus which functions to control position, preserve the load, and maintain the stability of the thumb joint. Symptoms that will be caused include pain, numbness, heat and tingling. From the symptoms caused will result in pain and limitations in moving the thumb towards extension and abduction. Objective to determine the implementation of Physiotherapy in the case of De Quervain Syndrome by using Infra Red (IR) modalities, Ultra Sound (US) Hold Relax and Exercise Therapy (TL) in reducing pain and increasing the scope of joint motion. Results After therapy for 3 times the results of pain assessment with VAS scale silent pain from T0: 1.5 to T3: 0, tenderness from T0: 3 to T3: 1,5 and motion pain from T0: 5 to T3: 3,5. While increasing range of motion with goniometer of sagittal joints T0: 5 ° - 0 ° - 15 ° to T3: 15 ° - 0 ° - 15 ° and to the frontal plane of T0: 25 ° - 0 ° - 0 ° to T3: 40 ° - 0 ° - 0 °. Conclusion the administration of Infra Red (IR) and Ultra Sound (US) modalities can reduce pain and provide Exercise Therapy (TL) Hold Relax can increase the scope of motion of the right thumb joint in the case of De Quervain Syndrome.
