Abstract
Roads in Indonesia generally use concrete asphalt pavement (LASTON) consisting of coarse, medium, fine, filler and asphalt aggregates themselves. Some regions in Indonesia are still difficult to reach these materials, therefore an alternative replacement is needed and is easy to reach. The first thing to do is determine the Optimum Asphalt Level (KAO) with asphalt content variations of 4.5%, 5%, 5.5%, 6%, 6.5%, 7% of the total aggregate weight. After the KAO value is determined, then make a sample with the addition of beach sand of 0%, 10%, 15%, and 30% of the fine aggregate. The sample that has been made is then tested to find the Marshall Properties value that includes Stability, Flow, VIM, VMA, VFWA, and MQ, the Optimal Beach Sand Proportion of the average Marshall Properties parameter, and Structural Value from the Sbit and Smix Nomogram charts. The effect of the use of beach sand on Marshall Properties and Structural Value in general is in the form of parabolic lines. The results of the study obtained KAO values of 5.5%. The effect of the addition of beach sand proportions is 0%, 10%, 15%, and 30% on the Marshall Properties Stability, Flow, VIM, and VMA, VFWA, and MQ graphs tend to be linear, where the values in the graph go up and down. The results of the Marshall Properties parameter obtained the value of Optimum Beach Sand at 14%. The proportion of beach sand in the AC-WC mixture to the structural value is relatively constant at the proportions of 0%, 10%, 15%, and 30%. The proportion of beach sand in terms of the optimum coefficient of relative strength of material (a) is in the variation of 15%. A value below the decreasing assumption value indicated by Bina Marga (2010) is 75% or equal to 0.262, so that it can be seen that the characteristics of the beach sand material do not meet the requirements as road materials used at low speeds.
