Abstract
Knowledge of sexually transmitted diseases (PMS) is everything that WTS knows about sexually transmitted infections, both the type of the disease, the factors that cause PMS or how to prevent the disease. This study aims to determine the description of PMS knowledge in WTS and WTS methods in preventing PMS. Informants in this study amounted to 5 people selected by purposive sampling with the criteria of status as WTS, female with age range ± 21-50 years and willing to become informants by filling out informed consent. Data collection techniques used in this study are semi-structured interviews. The data analysis technique uses descriptive narrative analysis techniques. The results of this study are the factors that cause WTS to be exposed to PMS such as free sex, no use of condoms, wrong use of antibiotics, lack of maintaining cleanliness of genitals and lack of understanding of how to prevent PMS. Knowledge of sexually transmitted diseases in female sex workers is quite sufficient. In general, WTS can explain the meaning of PMS, the types of PMS, factors that cause PMS, perceived symptoms and how to prevent them even though the answers given by WTS are not all true. In this study there were female sex workers who were in the implementation and evaluation stages. WTS who are at the implementation stage can apply their knowledge in preventing PMS. WTS who are already at the evaluation stage can be aware and afraid of being exposed to PMS because they consider the disease to be dangerous so that many seek information about the disease.
