Abstract

The purpose of this study is to improve the active learning of mathematics students through the constructivism learning approach on students of class VII A SMP Negeri 2 Delanggu. The type of research used is classroom action research. The subject of the study was a mathematics teacher of class VII A as a subject that gave action and a number of 32 students consisting of 15 male students and 17 female students as subjects who received the action. The class action was carried out in two cycles consisting of 2 meetings. Data collection techniques use interviews, observation or observation, documentation, field notes, test methods. Data analysis techniques use data collection, data reduction, data display and conclusion. To check the validity of the data the researcher used source triangulation and technique triangulation. The results showed an increase in the activity of learning mathematics with indicators: 1) Activity in answering questions before the action 31.25%, in the first cycle 46.87% and in the second cycle 65.62%. 2) Activeness in asking questions, ideas or ideas before the action 25%, in the first cycle 53.12% and in the second cycle 75%. 3) Activeness in working on assignments written before the action 28.12%, in the first cycle 40.62% and in the second cycle 62.5%. 4) Activeness in approving and refuting the ideas of other students before the action 21.87%, in the first cycle 31.25% and in the second cycle 46.87%.
