Abstract

Background: Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) is a chronic and progressive lung disease that characterized by limited irreversible airflow, resulting in shortness of breath, cough and accumulation of sputum in respiratory tract. Objectives: to determine the benefits of nebulizer and Active Cycle of Breathing Techniques (ACBT) in cases of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). Results: after 4 times of therapy, there was a decrease in the degree of shortness of breath T0: 5 to T4: 2 and there is increase in thoracic cage expansion in axilla T0: 1 cm to T4: 2 cm, in ICS 4&5 T0: 1 cm to T4: 3,5 cm, on xyphoid procesus T0: 1 cm to T4: 4 cm. Conclusion: providing nebulizer modalities and Active Cycle of Breathing Technique (ACBT), can reduce shortness of breath, increase thoracic expansion cage and enhance functional activity capability.
