Abstract

The purpose of this study is (1) Describe the structure personality of the main characters in the “Sampek Engtay” drama script by N. Riantiarno, (2) Describe aspects based on the theory of psychology personality by Sigmund Freud, and (3) Describe the implementation as a literary teaching material in Senior High School. This research uses the descriptive qualitative method. Data collection technique using a review techniques, gathering, and note technique. Data validation techniques with theoritical triangulation and data triangulation. The data analysis technique used is the reading of the semiotic model consists of heuristic and hermeneutic readings. The results of this study are (1) Structural the main theme of the “Sampek Engtay” drama script by N. Riantiarno is romance and the sub-themes is education. The main character in this drama script is Sampek and Engtay. The flow used is the forward flow. The settings of the drama is divided into three parts, that is the place, time, and social setting. (2) Aspects of personality the main character in the “Sampek Engtay” drama script by N. Riantiarno which refers to Sigmund Freud's theory, that is id, ego and superego. (3) “Sampek Engtay” drama script by N. Riantiarno, it can be implemented as a literary teaching material in high school, specifically class XI / 2, KD 4.18 Demonstrating one of the characters in the drama who can be read or watched orally.
