Abstract

The aim of this study is using the Story Bird Application in teaching narrative texts by teachers and student responses in teaching narrative texts. This research includes the type of descriptive qualitative research type of study to investigate the problem. This research was conducted at SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Kartasura, especially in the eighth grade. The researcher used observation, interview, and documentation only as of the method of collecting data. The results of the research show that: 1.) The teaching technique used by English teachers are translation and write the new things. The media used by English teachers are, laptop, LCD projector, and Story Bird application. 2.) There are several problems faced by English teachers, there are the picture incompatible of the story and there is no video review at the end of the display of the Story Bird application. 3.) The solution was found by the English teacher to solve the problem by giving the recommendation to the Story Bird application, because there are some disadvantages found in this Story Bird application.
