Abstract

The purpose of this study is to find out the relationship between self control and peer conformity with impulsive buying in students. Respondents in this research is a student Faculty of Psychology Muhammadiyah Surakarta University generation 2015 to 2018 which amounted 105 subject. Sampling is done by proportional stratified random sampling technique. The method used in this study is quantitative with a measuring instrument of implusive buying scale, self control scale and peer conformity scale. The data analyse technique used in this study is multiple linier regression analysis. Based on the result of data analysis, Based on the result of data analysis, the correlation value F(count) of 42,810 with significant (p) 0,000 (p≤0,05), there is very significant relation between self control and peer conformity with impulsive buying. Another result is there is a significant negative relationship between self control and impulsive buying with the result of rx1y correlation of -0,624 with significance (p) 0,000 (p≤0,05). In addition there is significant positive relationship between peer conformity with impulsive buying with the result of rx2y correlation of 0,442 with significance (p) 0,000 (p≤0,05). Effective contribution of self control and peer conformity to impulsive buying of 45,6%. The level of impulsive buying on subject in the subject included in the medium category, the level of self control in the subject included in the medium category, and the level of peer conformity in the subject included in the medium category. Based of stepwise analysis, the most dominant aspect of self control towards impulsive buying is the decision control aspect of 31,47%, while the most dominant of peer conformity towards impulsive buying is the aspect of trust in the group of 17,06%.
