Abstract

Practicum is one of the most important learning strategies because it can clarify the material taught by the teacher in the classroom, practicum often has difficulty so research must be done to maximize the practicum and correct the difficulties. This study aims to describe the implementation and difficulties of biology practicums based on the evaluation of teachers and students in Sragen District Middle School in the academic year 2018/2019. This research was conducted in August 2018 to April 2019 at the Muhammadiyah Al-Qolam Middle School, Kalijambe 1 Public Middle School, and Sidoharjo 2 Public Middle School. The method used in this study is data retrieval by means of triangulation through direct observation, distribution of student questionnaires and in-depth interviews with science teachers then described using a qualitative approach. Resource persons in this study were science teachers and students. Data analysis techniques used in this research is using data analysis of Model Miles and Huberman. The results of the study were based on student observations and questionnaires, the implementation of the practicum was included in the excellent category with an average of 84.24%. Practicum implementation in Muhammadiyah Al-Qolam Middle School was carried out 83.76%, 85.20% in SMP 1 Kalijambe and 83.78% in SMPN 2 Sidoharjo. While based on in-depth interviews with science teachers, the practical difficulties experienced by teachers and students are the difficulty of conditioning students, tools and materials that are less complete and students who are less prepared to practice.
