Abstract

Workload is a number of activities or jobs in an organization or company that must be completed within a certain period of time. Work stress is a condition of retension which led to the existence of a physical and psychological condition of imbalance on the employs who come from individuals an organisations that affect the physical, psychological and behavior of employes. The pravelence of work stress, especially nurse varies in each country in the world. Excessive workload greatly influence work stress level on nurses. The presence of work stress can affect the decision making, performance and quality of work. The purpose of the study was to find out the relationship between workload and work stress in the inpatient ward of Dr. Moewardi Surakarta. The type of research used is quantitative with descriptive correlative method. Sampling technique is using accidental sampling with a total sample of 91 respondents. Data analysis techniques were carried out using univariate and bivariate analysis and the test used was the chi square test. The results showed moderate workload of 56 respondents (61.5%) and moderate work stress 57 respondents (62.6%). The correlation value of this study is P = 0,000. Conclusion his study there is a relation of workload of nurses working eith stress of nurses of nurses in patien hospitals RSUD Dr. Moewardi Surakarta with an average category of moderate workload and moderate work stress.
