Abstract
Friction Stir Welding (FSW) is a process of connecting materials with solid conditions which when the process of combining metals does not melt so that the characteristics of the parent metal do not change. The preheating process added to FSW to provide heat in the metal to be welded can get and maintain a temperature (the temperature in the parent metal around the area to be welded). The aims of research is to determine the effect of heat treatment on welding results using the friction stir welding (FSW) method on Series 6061 Aluminum Alloy and Series 6061 Aluminum Alloy on physical and mechanical properties, in which the friction stir welding (FSW) method used in this study was added with the preheating process. The results of this study the effect of heat treatment shows that the highest tensile stress value is a Triangle Pin with a value of 309.08 MPa, while the Circle Pin and Quadrilateral Pin are worth below which are 283.29 MPa and 240.30 MPa. In the tensile test the value of Circle Pin 13.22% is a high peling value, the value of the Triangle Pin and the Quadrilateral Pin are below that which are 12.32% and 7.11%. While the results of the hardness test the highest value of the weld area from the 112 VHN Triangle Pin treatment. The value of the Haz region of the treatment of the Circle Pin and the Quadrilateral Pin are the same, namely 112 VHN, where this value is higher than the value of the Triangle Pin 109 VHN. And the value of the Base area is highest in the treatment of Quadrilateral Pins 102 VHN. Dai, the most subtle micrograin photo test results obtained on triangular pin profiles.
