Abstract
An organization cannot avoid crisis situations that can threaten reputation. The organization of Government of Solo City received a negative assessment by the public on the policy of dissolving the Manahan Sunday Market activity. Traders held a demonstration as a form of protest against the policy. One of the local media in the city of Solo, Solopos, one of the media that most actively highlights the development of the situation. This study aims to determine the response strategy of the Government of Solo City in handling crisis situations related to public assessment of the Manahan Sunday Market dissolution policy in the media. The method used in this research is quantitative content analysis on online media coverage (solopos.com) for the period of April-September 2018. Situational Crisis Communication Theory (SCCT) was used in this study as a reference to measure the strategy of the Government of Solo City in responding to the crisis. As many as 16 news articles that have been found, the authors conclude the compatibility of the response strategy applied by the Government of Solo City in dealing with the crisis situation. The Government of Solo City mainly uses a crisis rebuild response strategy. The used response is a form of responsibility and an apology that is effective in controlling the negative public judgment.
