Abstract

This research was motivated by the controversy of the Indonesian Mother's poetry which was read by Sukmawati SoekarnoPutri. The role of the media in providing information is very important in building positive and negative news content. This research aims to analyze the construction of reality formed by the media and the factors that influence media framing of the news. The theory used in this study is the construction of the social reality of Peter L. Berger and Luckman and reality factors by Shoemaker and Reese. This study used a descriptive qualitative approach and the frond analysis method Zhongdang Pan and Gerald M. kosicki by comparing the two Kompas and Republika media. The results of this research are selection of issues displayed by Republika on police performance issues and responses from an Islamic perspective while Kompas on Sukmawati Poetry does not contain criminal elements in the form of cultural and religious diversity in Indonesia with level factors that influence the construction of reality on the news, individual levels, media routines and ideological level.
