Abstract

Psychological well-being is an important thing for everyone including adolescents who lives in an orphanage. Psychological well-being is considered important because it relates to the life of someone who is considered to be running smoothly. High and low psychological well-being is influenced by several factors and one of them is self-efficacy. This study aims to determine the relationship between self-efficacy and psychological well-being of adolescents who live in orphanages. The research hypothesis proposed is that there is a positive relationship between self-efficacy and psychological well-being of adolescents who live in orphanages. The method used in this research is quantitative correlation. Data collection uses a psychological well-being scale that has validity that moves from 0.6-0.8 and has a reliability of 0.744 and also uses a self-efficacy scale that has validity moving from 0.75-0.91 and has a reliability of 0.831. The research subjects were taken by cluster random sampling technique, by grouping orphanages belonging to the Muhammadiyah foundation based on Surakarta residency area and randomly choosing from 22 orphanages belonging to the Muhammadiyah foundation to 7 orphanages with a total of 150 research adolescents subjects. Analysis using product moment correlation techniques, and the results obtained are there is a positive relationship between self-efficacy and psychological well-being of adolescents who live in orphanages, which is seen from the results of data analysis which shows the results of the correlation r = 0.487 and p = 0,000 (p≤0 , 01). The magnitude of the contribution of self-efficacy affects psychological well-being of 23.7%, from these results it can be seen that the hypothesis testing is proven to have a significant relationship between self-efficacy and psychological well-being
