Abstract

This study aims to describe the procedures and challenges of Schoology in Teaching ESP (English for Specific Purposes) at Department of English Education of Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta. The subject of this research are lecturer and the students of ESP subject. The type of this study is descriptive qualitative research. Technique for collecting data in this research is interview. The data of the research is recorded and written in transcript form. There are several steps for analysing data, namely collecting data, making a note or transcript from the interview, coding, rereading, reducing the data, discussing the finding by using systematic classifications or based on the problem statements,drawing conclusions and giving back to the respondents to give their interpretations. The result of the research shows that: 1. In ESP class Schoology is used as the media to support face to face meeting, as respository of materials, information and syllabus. Schoology is also used to give quiz, assignment, feedback, check attendance and effective solution for lecturer if he is unable to come to the class 2. The main challenges using Schoology is internet access, and students discipline and awareness to update information and open Schoology.
