Abstract

Madrasah Tsanawiyah Negeri 02 Sukoharjo is an Islamic-based public school with A accreditation in 2015. Before the implementation of the superior class, Sukoharjo 02 MTs Negeri was still underestimated by the community and was not very interested. but in 2015 this school gave a new breakthrough by presenting a class program. This superior class has been running for approximately 5 years, MTs Negeri 02 Sukoharjo manages superior classes in 3 class programs at once, namely full day class (FD), special program class (PK) and boarding school (BD) classes. This research tries to know and describe the Head master’s strategy in developing superior classes at MTs 02 Sukoharjo school Year 2018/2019 and the strategy of the headmaster’s in maintaining superior class quality at MTs 02 Sukoharjo Year 2018/2019. This research is qualitative research. Tehe methods of collecting data used nterviews, observation, and documentation. The data analysis used descriptive analysis with deductive methods. The results of this research are: 1) The Head master makes some strategy in developing superior classes, the first strategy is to carry out student management including student input, learning process, and student output. The second is conducting management of teacher including the "Teacher Development" this program is held once a month and the head master always give a motivation and evaluation in order to developing teachers. the third strategy is the implementation of the additional programs that include the tahfidz program, robotics programs, and conversation programs. 2) The Head master strategy to maintain the quality of superior, the first strategy is to increase the innovation in additional programs. The second strategy is to establish relationships between school stakeholders. And the third strategy is to maintain the quality of superior class output.
