Abstract
Breastfeeding is a natural and beneficial process for babies. However, creating breastfeeding from day one is not always easy because many women face problems in doing so. Level of education, economic status and knowledge are some factors that could contribute to the success of exclusive breastfeeding. The purpose of this study was to analyze the success factors of Exclusive Breastfeeding for mothers with infants aged 6-12 months in the Banyuanyar District of Surakarta. This type of research is an observational analytic study with a Cross Sectional design. This study was done in March 2019. Population of this study was 118 people. The sample of this study was 90 respondents. The data analysis technique was done by the chi square test. The results showed that there is relationship between the level of education and exclusive breastfeeding for mothers with infants aged 6-12 months (p < 0,0001), there is no relationship between economic status and exclusive breastfeeding for mothers with infants aged 6-12 months (p = 0,263), and there is a relationship between the level of knowledge with exclusive breastfeeding for mothers with infants aged 6-12 months (p < 0,0001). Breastfeeding mothers are encouraged to seek more knowledge in the importance of exclusive breastfeeding. Health centers must find innovative and effective ways to promote exclusive breastfeeding.
