Abstract

Character education of loving the homeland and appreciate the achievement can be instilled through various methods, one of which is through extracurricular activities of traditional dance art. The purpose of this study are to describe (1) the implementation of extracurricular activities in traditional dance art, (2) the planting character of loving the homeland through extracurricular activities of traditional dance art, (3) the planting character of appreciate the achievement through extracurricular activities of traditional dance art, (4) the barriers and solutions extracurricular activities of traditional dance art in instilling the character of loving the homeland and appreciate the achievement. This study using the qualitative research. Data collection used is observation, interviews and documentation. The validity of the data using source triangulation and techniques triangulation. The results of the research are (1) implementation extracurricular activities of traditional dance art carried out with two patterns are routine which is held every Thursday at 3.30 pm until 5.00 pm, and incidental when approaching the contest, (2) the planting character of loving the homeland through various efforts including guidance and guidance from the teacher, and inviting students to sing songs nationality, 3) the planting character of appreciate the achievement through habituation to students to give appreciation when seeing other students get proud achievements, (4) there are still found barriers in instilling the character of loving the homeland and appreciate the achievement, such as the unavability of a separate room, and the ability of different students to receive and understand the material, the solution used is to optimize the existing space and habituation and approach to students.
