Abstract

This research aims to model the evacuation routes of traffic accident victim to health facilities (emergency units) using GIS software and see its effectiveness. The research area is taken in Urban Corridor in Kutoarjo Sub-district, Purworejo Regency, considering that urban areas have a bigger risk of traffic accidents than other. Data from Purworejo Regional Police Station shows that Kutoarjo Sub-district has second ranks on the list of sub-district with the highest number of occurrences in Purworejo Regency. This encourages to find evacuation routes to minimize the number of victims who died. The method that used in this research is census method. That method is done for retrieve data to all objects in this research population as a whole without exception. Some datas that needed in this research included road length, road width, side barriers, kereb/shoulder distance, total population, and accident locations, and the locations of the health facilities. Analysis for route determination using Network Analyst in ArcGIS software then compares the results with routes from Google Maps and actual conditions in the field. Total evacuation’s raoutes that obtained from network analyst and google maps each have 9 routes. The routes generated from network analyst and google maps have differences in route selection, so that affecting differences too in distance and travel time. Network analyst is better (accuracy) in estimating travel time, but it is less effective in determining its route, while Google Maps is better at determining the most appropriate and effective route, but the estimated travel time is less precise.
