Abstract
Sprint is running at full speed along the distance traveled. In running a sprint there are factors that can affect running speed, namely the length of the legs and the strength of the leg muscles. The relationship of leg length and leg muscle strength is one factor so that athletes run faster. To determine the relationship between the length of the limb and the strength of the leg muscles with the speed of running of the sprint athlete at Sebelas Maret University Surakarta. OBJECTIVE: This study aims to determine the relationship between limb length and leg muscle strength with the sprint athlete's running speed at Sebelas Maret University Surakarta. The type of research used is the total sampling method. The sample size in this study amounted to 20 people. This measurement test uses a meterline to measure leg length, leg dynamometer to measure leg muscle strength, and stopwatch to measure running speed. The normality test uses the Shapiro Wilk Test. Test the relationship using the Spearman Test. RESEARCH RESULTS: The results of the relationship between leg length and leg muscle strength with the sprint athlete's running speed obtained the results of normality test using shaphiro-willk in leg length, p = 0.511 which means normal distribution, for muscle strength that is p = 0.265 which means normal distribution, and for running speed p = 0.00. Spearman test shows that the data on muscle strength is significant with running speed because it shows a significant value that is p = 0.01, which means the data is correlated. For spearman the leg length shows p = 0.00. From the results of the study it can be concluded that there is a relationship between the length of the legs and the strength of the leg muscles with the speed of running of the sprint athlete.
