Abstract
Urban Heat Island (UHI) is a phenomenon that occurs in urban areas, including in the city of Bekasi. The UHI phenomenon is characterized by higher temperatures in cities compared to surrounding villages has become an environmental problem that has impact on society. The purpose of this study is to examine the spatial distribution of Land surface temperature (LST), Urban Heat Island (UHI), vegetation index (NDVI), and level of development (NDBI) in Bekasi City, and to see the relationship between NDVI and NDBI values with LST and UHI values. The research method is analysis of secondary data and field surveys. The estimation of the UHI value is done by using the value of surface temperature that has been extrected using the Split Window Algorithm (SWA) method. NDVI and NDBI values are also extracted using remote sensing data Landsat 8 images, with the recording time August 25th, 2013 and July 6th, 2018. Analysis to show determination the effect is done using multiple linear regression. The results of this study indicate the spread of UHI and high LST values in 2013 and 2018 found in the northern part of Bekasi City which also has a moderate to high NDBI value and a low NDVI value with land use as a built area. Low UHI and LST values are found in the southern part of Bekasi City with low NDBI values and moderate to high NDVI where there is still a lot of agricultural lands. There have been many changes in the NDBI value in the southern part of the city of Bekasi where the location began to be affected by the development of residential areas which triggered the emergence of UHI. The NDVI and NDBI regression against the LST value in 2013 and 2018 resulted value of R2 0.636 and 0.641. NDVI and NDBI regression results against UHI in 2013 and 2018 showed values of R2 0.634 and 0.642. The regression shows that the values of NDVI and NDBI affect the variation in the value of LST and UHI in Bekasi City. The value of NDVI is inversely proportional with value of LST and UHI while the NDBI value tends to be directly proportional to the value of LST and UHI.
