Abstract

This research is aimed to describe the elements which are configuring the discourse of job vacancy in JogloSemar newspaper and theme-rheme of job vacancy advertisement in JogloSemar newspaper. The research is descriptive qualitative. The data are discourse of job vacancy advertisement in English. To collect the data, the researcher uses observation and documentation.The data are analyzed referring to Hymes theory of SPEAKING and the structured meaning theory, especially macro structure and superstructure. The results of the study, show that: (1) there are seven elements which are configuring the discourse. They are addresser, addressee, setting, channel, code, message, and topic; (2) the theme-rheme of discourse of job vacancy advertisement can be seen through the topic. A topic can give the information of the set being pointed significant.The theme are the name companies being the job while the rheme are the available positions being advertisement.
