Abstract

This research aims to know the psychological dynamics of the perpetrators and victims of sexual abuse in social media. This research is a descriptive qualitative research. Data collection using the online questionnaire with deepening of using interviews. Data analysis using the categorization of data. Research informants amounted to 340 millennial generations who born on 1980-2000 year range and is an active users of social media. The results shows the condition of the millennial generations' perception about sexual abuse in social media that 76.8% know, 15% were hesitant, and 8.2% don’t know. There are many factors that affect the behavior of sexual abuse in social media such as the desire for fun, habits, curious, searching for satisfaction, result of watching porn videos, being provoked, experience being victim of sexual abuse in social media and deepen friendships. The forms of sexual abuse in social media are verbal abuse, graphical, sexual invitation, hacking, and transmission of personal data. The coping strategies are used by the millennial generation to resolve the online sexual abuse include, focused coping emotion include: a) praying, b) self-introspection, c) avoiding, and focused coping problems include: a) reporting and blocking accounts, b) seeking social support, c) replying to violations, d) asking for crime, e) seeking information about sexual abuse, f) clarification, g) supporting victims, and i) doing nothing. As for factors with affect the selection of coping are seeking diversion, awareness about good and bad behavior, as well as the desirability of eliminating and reducing the online sexual abuse.
