Abstract
Track adjuster is one of Undercarriage components of causing heavy work and often damage. Track adjuster functions to tight and loose Track chain assembly lying front idler above track frame, and track adjuster has recoil spring components to reduce shock load. Therefore, the writer studies the problem in the paper entitled “Examining damage of Track adjuster Excavator XGMA XG822 LC” to enrich knowledge of the role of components and system of track adjuster, to minimize the damage in order that the unit may work optimally. The procedure of examination conducted on track adjuster includes setting and measuring track adjuster followed by sassembling the component of track adjuster after it has been assembled to know the types of damage in track adjuster. Then, sweeping is performed to list the damaged spareparts, continued by repairing of re-fitting and re-assembly (reset) each components with the new component resulted from sweeping. It is followed by analyzing using fishbone diagram to analyze the cause of track adjuster system damage. The result showed that the damage of track adjuster system were the operators’ mistake in operating unit method, mechanic who did not do daily check correctly (not based on schedule and standard OMM of excavator XGMA XG822LC unit) causing unidentified internal leakage of scratch in piston track adjuster, the shocked load accepted by excavator unit was too big, and the schedule of maintenance was more than the factory-determined hour-meter. The ways to prevent damage in order that the track adjuster had long life span was by performing whole daily check before the unit operated and scaled preventive maintenance.
